What is Generic Revatio?
Generic Revatio, a first-line treatment for pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), contains sildenafil citrate. The chemical acts as a muscle and vascular relaxant, thereby increasing blood inflow. It is used to improve cardiac function and exercise tolerance. Off-label, REVATIO is taken as an erectile dysfunction medication, as it acts in the same way VIAGRA does.
Sildenafil citrate, an active component in REVATIO, is a phosphodiesterase type5 (PDE5) inhibitor. Its action allows cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) to exert its enzyme activity by improving blood inflow to the penis upon the commensuration of sexual activity.
REVATIO is an USFDA approved drug, which can be dispensed according to a prescription only.
Generic Revatio comes in tablet form and injectables. White film-coated REVATIO tablets (20 mg) with ‘RVT 20’ and ‘Pfizer’ labels on the sides, are to be taken three times a day, as indicated and prescribed by a physician.
